GL Communications Announces Availability of GSM Analysis and Simulation SoftwareGL Communications (News - Alert) Inc., a Gaithersburg, Maryland-based provider of PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services, recently revealed its GSM Analysis and Simulation software is now available. GSM Analyzer helps to analyze GSM protocols, a switching and signaling telecommunication protocol between MSC (News - Alert) & BSC, BSC & BTS, MSC & SMLC, UMA & MS and so on. Officials said the software also supports decoding proprietary “Mobis” Interface with additional license XX151 between BSC - BTS and BSC - PCU. Some of the other interfaces supported include Ls / Lb / Lp Interface and Up and MS. HDLC frames are parsed according to Q.921, SS7 information parsing is based on ANSI and ITU standards: T1.111, T1.112, T1.113, Q.703, Q.704, Q.708, Q.723, Q.763 & GSM information parsing is based on 3GPP TS 08.08¸ 3GPP TS 24.008, 03.40, 3GPP TS 04.11, 3GPP TS 08.58, 3GPP TS 04.18. MTP2 is parsed according to ANSI-ITU standards and the higher GSM layer information parsing depends on the user's selection of GSM 900, DCS 1800 & PCS 1900, according GSM variants. In a statement, Jagdish Vadalia, senior manager for product development of the company, said, “GSM applications are supported that further help in emulating GSM protocol over A & Abis interfaces. GL's GSM A Interface Emulator is an advanced protocol simulator/tester for GSM simulation over A Interface that can simulate network elements MSC and BSC by generating and receiving BSSMAP and DTAP messages. The signaling specification conforms to ITU-T and 3GPP standards.” GSM Analyzer has the capability to export detailed decode information to an ASCII file. Any protocol field can be added to the summary view, filtering, and search features providing users more flexibility to monitor required protocol fields. Voice over IP (VoIP) has become a widely accepted technology, but like most IP applications it requires attention to detail to be successfully deployed. Tools like GL Communications’ PacketProbe can be used to ensure successful deployments, and can also be used to help with network design, ensuring that the most efficient topologies are implemented. The VoIP monitoring solution can be used for ongoing network management to allow for maximum customer uptime and to allow the service provider to meet or exceed their service level guarantee. In related TMC (News - Alert) news, GL Communications recently announced the availability of its Acoustic Echo Compliance Test Software per G.167 and P.340 standards. The software has the ability to simulate an actual acoustic echo path with acoustic filter types, Echo path delays, losses and features filter, attenuate and delay to simulate a real acoustic environment.
